Johnny Damon praises Red Sox for handling of David Ortiz situation

Johnny Damon didn't end his tenure in Boston on the greatest terms with the Red Sox organization, but he's putting those differences aside after the shocking David Ortiz shooting.

The Red Sox sent a plane to the Dominican Republic on Monday so Ortiz could be transported to Boston and treated at Mass General. Damon praised and thanked the organization for taking care of his friend and former teammate.

"The Red Sox did such a great job at going down to the Dominican and bringing him back to some of the great hospitals and doctors we have up in Boston," Damon told TMZ Sports.

"Thank you, Red Sox, for doing the right thing and getting him up in Boston and taking care of him."

Ortiz underwent his second surgery Monday night in Boston. The latest report on his condition states he took a few steps and spoke with loved ones on Tuesday.

One of the two suspects in the shooting has been arrested and reportedly will be charged with attempted murder. The second suspect has yet to be identified.
