J.D. Martinez has been with the Red Sox for less than two years, but he's already leaving his mark in Sox history.
The 31-year-slugger blasted a three-run home run on Monday night to contribute to Boston's seven-run third inning vs. the Rays. The homer put Martinez ahead of Mike Easler and Reggie Jefferson for the No. 7 spot on the Red Sox' all-time home run list for designated hitters.
It was Martinez's 38th in only 156 games as a Sox DH.
Assuming Martinez doesn't opt out of his contract following this season, we can expect him to continue rising up those ranks at an impressive pace.
