IN BRIEF: The Red Sox and Royals game Wednesday night was suspended in the 10th inning with the score tied 4-4 after a lengthy rain delay. It's scheduled to be resumed on Aug. 22 at 1:05 p.m. on what was originally an off day for both teams. The Sox start an eight-game West Coast trip with a night game in San Diego on Aug. 23. The Royals will be between series in Baltimore and Cleveland. BOX SCORE

(D. Hernandez replaces E. Rodriguez on the mound) Hamilton doubles to left, Merrifield singles to left, scoring Hamilton (BOS, 4-3).

7th inning:
(Eovaldi replaces D. Hernandez on the mound) Dozier singles to left, moves to second on a wild pitch and to third on Cuthbert's groundout, Lopez doubles to center, scoring Dozier (tied, 4-4).
