Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora shared a positive update on injured third baseman Rafael Devers on Wednesday.
Devers, placed on the injured list last Saturday with right hamstring inflammation,Β took ground balls and hit in the batting cage. Cora said the two-time All-Star is "moving better" and is likely to return from the IL when eligible on Aug. 2.
βHeβs progressing. I think Raffy will be OK right away,β Cora told reporters.

Devers is in the midst of his best MLB season. The 25-year-old has slashed .324/.379/.602 with 22 homers and 55 RBI through 87 games.
He's one of several key Red Sox players currently sidelined due to injury. Also on the IL are Trevor Story (right hand contusion), Christian Arroyo (left groin strain), Michael Wacha (right shoulder inflammation), Rich Hill (left knee sprain), Matt Strahm (left wrist contusion), Chris Sale (fractured left pinky finger), and Matt Barnes (right shoulder inflammation).Β
