Ex-Red Sox star Mookie Betts shows love for KBO in colorful hype video

Mookie Betts has yet to play a game for the Dodgers, but he's already embracing the Hollywood aspect of the Los Angeles lifestyle.

The former Boston Red Sox outfielder broke a weeks-long social media silence Monday night to post a 90-second hype video urging fans to watch the KBO League, South Korea's professional baseball league that began its regular season early Tuesday morning.

Here's the video, which features a rare side of the normally soft-spoken Betts as he tries to sell Americans on the KBO:

So, did Mookie convince you to watch KBO games with Major League Baseball -- and virtually every other pro sports league -- on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic? (If so, here are a few old friends playing in the KBO whom Red Sox fans may recognize.)

Or are you wondering why Betts didn't bring this enthusiasm to more Red Sox hype videos before Boston traded him to the Dodgers in February?

In any case, it seems the 27-year-old is trying to market himself a bit more now that he's in Hollywood. He also gave a bold speech to his new Dodgers teammates upon arriving in L.A., so perhaps he's more comfortable in his role as a superstar.

When Betts will make his Dodgers debut remains to be seen, however, as MLB still doesn't have an immediate plan to begin its 2020 season. In fact, there's a chance the four-time All-Star never suits up in Dodger blue, as he'll become a free agent again in 2021.

But for now, Betts just wants you to enjoy some KBO baseball, which you can watch on ESPN over the next several weeks.
