PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- Koji Uehara threw a bullpen session Saturday morning, but could "still feel'' the strained left hamstring that first sidelined two weeks ago, pushing back a game appearance that been tentatively set for Monday.
"We'll see how he comes in [Sunday] to determine what the next step may be,'' said John Farrell. "Right now, it would probably be another bullpen session [instead of] a game [Monday].''
Still, Farrell wouldn't rule out the chances of Uehara being ready for the season opener, April 6 in Philadelphia.
"I'm not going to go that far yet,'' said Farrell. "Realizing that we're nine days from opening, even if Koji were to get into a couple of games, we'd still be open-minded. We're talking about a one-inning reliever, a veteran guy, someone who's been able to keep his arm in shape through long-toss and [throwing on] flat ground. This is still day-to-day at this point.''
