David Ortiz shooting: Red Sox legend was not the intended target, says Dominican Attorney General

During a press conference on Wednesday, officials in the Dominican Republic revealed that David Ortiz was not the intended target in the shooting that left him wounded on June 9.

According to Dominican Attorney General Jean Alain Rodriguez, the target was Ortiz's friend Sixto David Fernandez, who was sitting at the Red Sox legend's table.

Rodriguez also revealed a "Gulf Cartel" member named Victor Hugo Gomez planned the attack. 

As of Wednesday, 11 people have been arrested in connection to the shooting.

Ortiz has been upgraded to "good" condition according to his wife, Tiffany, and continues to recover at Mass General Hospital in Boston.
