Mitch Moreland and Chris Sale look pretty despondent in that photo above. And they have reason.
Moreland wasn't a culprit Monday -- he had three of the Red Sox' four hits -- but, as a representative of the hitters, he deserves to hang his head. Sale has pitched brilliantly in his first two starts as a member of the Red Sox . . . and he's 0-1. The reason? His teammates have given him no support, as in almost nothing:
At least the Red Sox won Sale's first start, even though it took them 12 innings to do so and he departed after seven. But neither they, nor he, was a winner yesterday.
Nor will they be very often if they continue to hit like this behind Sale.
