Cora sees precedent set in ESPN relenting on Yankees schedule

The Yankees had threatened an ESPN boycott after a scheduling change that would've had them playing three games in two countries in a span of 24 hours July 8-9.

MLB and ESPN have acceded to the Yankees demands and moved what had become an 8 p.m. Sunday night national TV game back to its original 1 p.m. start time in Toronto on July 8. New York has a doubleheader in Baltimore the next day beginning at 5 p.m.

The move left Red Sox manager Alex Cora wondering if it could set a precedent for teams upset with the cable giant's role in scheduling.

After the rainout in Baltimore, Yankees players had voted for the doubleheader in Baltimore thinking they were playing at 1 in Toronto, not 8, the day before.

The Red Sox are scheduled for an "ESPN Sunday Night Baseball" appearance against the Yankees on July 1 and play the following night in Washington at 8 p.m.
