Chris Sale (shoulder) to miss second straight start

When the Red Sox sent Chris Sale to the 10-day DL with left shoulder imflammation, the hope for him and fans was for the lefty-ace to only miss one start against the New York Yankees.

Boston announced its rotation for its upcoming series against the Toronto Blue Jays, and it looks like Sale will miss a second straight start.

The Red Sox are most likely taking the cautious approach with Sale here since the team has a 8.5 game lead on the Yankees in the AL East and will need him completely healthy for the playoffs.

Sale repeatedly told reporters after going to the DL how the shoulder soreness is nothing serious and it is not a product of changing his grip on his slider.

Still, you don't want your ace experiencing discomfort in his throwing arm this late in the season.

UPDATE:

Alex Cora said Sunday following the Red Sox win over New York that he expects Sale to pitch in the team's next Baltimore series. The four-game slate runs from August 10th throught August 12th.
