Theo Epstein's rumored move from the Red Sox to the Cubs makes sense to Steve Buckley of the Boston Herald, the reporter who broke the story.
"I think right now, for him, Chicago is the right move," Buckley told Mike Giardi Tuesday night on 'Chevrolet SportsNet Central'.
"Theo Epstein spent 10 years with the Red Sox, nine years as general manager, and he's seeking new opportunities," said Buckley.
"Plus, he's not the fair-haired boy anymore, he's not the Boy Wonder. Some of his free-agent moves have not worked out. I think he would have been under a microscope next year.
"I think this is a chance for him to -- not to super cliche here -- but to reinvent himself and to make a lot more money, presumably, and to emerge as the guy running one of the fabled franchises in baseball, that being the Chicago Cubs."
