The Boston Red Sox surprised in the first round of the 2020 MLB Draft, so what will they have in store for us on Thursday?
The Red Sox had the No. 17 pick in Wednesday night's Round 1, and they selected high school infielder Nick Yorke. Many rankings and mock drafts didn't have Yorke going in the first round, but the Red Sox are huge fans of his bat. His offensive skill set is impressive, and highly respected Vanderbilt head coach Tim Corbin even called Yorke "the best hitter in high school baseball."

The draft concludes Thursday night with rounds two through five. The Red Sox will make three picks. They don't have a second-round pick because it was taken away by Major League Baseball as part of their punishment for stealing signs.
The Red Sox have a lot of work to do to rebuild their farm system. In fact, Boston's prospect pool was ranked 25th of 30 teams by MLB.com in March. These three picks Thursday are very important to the Red Sox restocking their system with quality players.
